Gladiolus is a very popular bulbous flowering plant. The name gladiolus is coined by Pliny. It is originated in Africa. Gladiolus  with its magnificient inflorescence is grown in herbaceous border, bed, rockery, pot and also for cut flowers .They are different types: Grandiflorus, Primulinus, Butterflys, Miniature.

MARIGOLD

Marigold gained popularity amongst gardeners and flower dealers on account of its easy culture and wide adaptability. Its habit of free flowering, short duration to produce marketable flowers, wide spectrum of attractive colour, shape, size and good keeping quality attracted the attention of flower growers. It is highly suitable as a bedding plant, in a herbaceous plant.

Calendula, pot marigold, is a genus of about 12–20 species of annual or perennial herbaceous plants in the daisy family Asteraceae. Calendula has been used traditionally as both a culinary and medicinal herb. The petals are edible and can be used fresh in salads or dried and used to color cheese or as a replacement for saffron.Calendula is known to cause allergic reactions. Calendula should be avoided during pregnancy and lactation.

 Poppy is one of a group of a flowering plants in the poppy family, many of which are grown in gardens for their colorful flowers. Poppies are sometimes used for symbolic reasons, such as in remembrance of soldiers who have died during wartime. Most species of poppies are attractive and are cultivated as ornamental plants. A few species have other uses, principally as sources of drugs and foods. The opium poppy (Papaver somniferum) is so widely used, for both drugs and food, that its worldwide production is monitored by international agencies. Poppies have long been used as a symbol of sleep, peace, and death: sleep because of the opium extracted from them, and death because of the common blood-red color of the red poppy in particular

PHLOX
Scientific name: Phlox drommondii






Phlox is a genus of 67 species of perennial and annual plants in the family Polemoniaceae. They are found mostly in North America .Some flower in spring, others in summer and fall. Flowers may be pale blue, violet, pink, bright red, or white. Many are fragrant. Some species such as P. paniculata (Garden Phlox) grow upright, while others such as P. subulata (Steak Phlox) grow short and matlike. The foliage of Phlox is a food for the larvae of some Lepidoptera species including Dot Moth. Phlox species are also a popular food source for groundhogs, rabbits and deer.

SALVIA
Scientific name: Salvia splendens




Salvia is the largest genus of plants in the mint family, Lamiaceae, with approximately 700-900 species of shrubs, herbaceous perennials, and annuals. The flowers are produced in racemes, or panicles, and generally produce a showy display with flower colors ranging from blue to red, with white and yellow less common. Salvia species are used as food plants by the larvae of some Lepidoptera (butterfly and moth) species including the bucculatricid leaf-miner Bucculatrix taeniola which feeds exclusively on the genus.
